Mr. Raymond A. Ill a lifelong Millington resident passed away early Tuesday January 10, 2012 at his residence, Raymond was 81.
Raymond was born in Millington on June 13, 1930, and was the son of Arthur & Agnes (Weber) Ill. Raymond was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served as an Usher and as a Clerk for the Voters Assembly, for many years. Raymond also served our country during the Korean War. He served in the U.S. Army serving with the 63D Sig. Bn. (OPR) near Salzburg, Austria for 16 months. He had been employed with the Buick Motor Division of General Motors, and retired in 1987 from the Fisher Guide Coldwater Rd. Plant after 30 years total with General Motors. Raymond was a Charter member of the Conrad-Wager & Kenne American Legion Post #169 of Millington, and was the Historian for several years; he was also a Charter member of the Millington-Arbela Historical Society.
Raymond leaves a brother and sister in-law Victor & Ruth Ann Ill, two sisters Mrs. Eunice Peche, and Janith & husband Larrie Hennagir, as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother in-law Don Peche.
The Ill family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services for Raymond will be held on Thursday January 12, 2012 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church at 1:00p.m. Pastor James Brunner will deliver the funeral message and closing prayers at the cemetery. Raymond will lay in-state at the church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until services begin. The burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Arbela Twp. the services at the Cemetery will be concluded with Military honors conducted by the Conrad-Wager 7 Keene American Legion Post #164.
