     Passed away Friday, January 13, 2012.   Age 84 years.

     The daughter of the late Ervin and Florence (Henry) Merchant was born July 13, 1927 in Roger City, Michigan.  She was a graduate of Alpena High School and married Frederick H. May Sr. on September 15, 1951. He passed away October 7, 1987.  She loved her flowers, watching birds, needlework and was involved in many local activities, including the Friends of the Library, Historical Society, Women’s Club, and was a partner in the Homestead Gift Shop.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and vacationing with them.

       Surviving are  three children,  Frederick May Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, Hemlock, MI; Barbara and David Baldauf, Saginaw, MI;  Thomas and Sue May, Flint, MI;  seven grandchildren and their spouses,  Heather and Justin Ritter, McComb, OH; Colleen and Nick  Wagner, Columbus, OH; Rachel and Cole Van Strydonk, Hemlock, MI; David Baldauf and his fiancé, Monica Molina, Chandler, AZ; Scott and Sarah Baldauf, Saginaw, MI; Timothy May; Amanda May both of Flint, MI; four great grandchildren,  Parker May; Connor Baldauf; Violet Van Strydonk; Arianna Ritter; a sister, Shirley Merchant, Alpena, MI; many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a sister, Carol Young.

      The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. Saginaw, MI. 48609.  Rev. Richard Mundt will officiate.  Committal service and burial will be in the Presque Isle Twp. Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 with Pastor Bob Case officiating.  Friends may call at the Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. Saginaw, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Grand Lake Chapel.
