James A. Ramseyer, 71, of Midland, joined his Lord and Savior early Saturday morning, January 21, 2012. He was born April 19, 1940, in Linwood, the son of the late Herbert and Naomi (Gudeman) Ramseyer. Jim graduated from Pinconning High School in 1958 and served in the United States Army for three years. On March 30, 1961 he married Marlene Reeves in Kawkawlin, MI. He began his career at Dow Corning, which spanned 40 years. During his employment, he earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Saginaw Valley State University, and later his M.B.A. from Central Michigan University. Jim lived to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and loved all people. He served as a minister at The Apostolic Christian Church in Kawkawlin for 40 years. Jim had many interesting hobbies and collections as he lived life to the fullest. Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marlene. Also surviving are four daughters: Bethany (Scott) Kent of Midland, Debra (Edward) Graf of Grabill, IN, Wendy (David) Hoag of Midland, Natalie (Mark) Berg of Shanghai, China; grandchildren Matthew (Rachel) Kent, Alyssa Kent, Michael Kent, Ryan (Leah) Graf, Jason Graf, Nicholas Hoag, Daniel Hoag, Elise Berg (fiance Matthieu Champanhet), Jacob Berg, Noah Berg, Levi Berg; brothers and sisters Ruth Ann (Elmer) Getz, Joseph (Dorethy) Ramseyer, Carol (William) Waibel, Hack (Joan) Ramseyer, Susan (Derrell) Steffen, Viola Ramseyer, Edith (Rodney) Laukhuf; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. Funeral services will take place at 11 am, Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Apostolic Christian Church, 2791 Fraser Road, Kawkawlin. Brothers Roger Aberle, Mark Bahr and Randy Kellenberger will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Jim’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler Street on Monday from 1-4 pm & 5-8 pm, and at the church on Tuesday from 10 am until time of services.
