Affiliations: The son of the late Benjamin and Esther (Dietz) Silver, Rubin was born March 10, 1918 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married Clara Tyra Silver in September 16, 1947. She predeceased him November 7, 2003. Rubin was employed at Sears Roebuck Company for 25 years until his retirement in 1982. He was of the Jewish faith. Rubin enjoyed reading and was an avid golfer and bowler. He demonstrated a great passion for the care of other people

Beloved father and grandfather passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Covenant Medical Center Cooper. Age 93 years. The son of the late Benjamin and Esther (Dietz) Silver, Rubin was born March 10, 1918 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married Clara Tyra Silver in September 16, 1947. She predeceased him November 7, 2003. Rubin was employed at Sears Roebuck Company for 25 years until his retirement in 1982. He was of the Jewish faith. Rubin enjoyed reading and was an avid golfer and bowler. He demonstrated a great passion for the care of other people. Surviving are three daughters, one son and their spouses, Elaine and David Mack, Saginaw; Dr. David Silver and Dr. Martha Silver, Cheyenne, Wyoming; Nancy and Paul Coman, Grand Rapids; Linda and Mark Gaertner, Port Austin; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Sidney Silver, Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews. Honoring Mr. Silver’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Sunday, April 22, 2012 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Public Libraries of Saginaw.
