Obituary for Mamie Willette of Standish, Michigan

Mamie, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at McLaren-Bay Region. She was born to William and Mertie (Hatcher) Pomerville on March 8, 1924 in Au Gres, Michigan. In 1946, Mamie Pomerville married Melvin Willette at Whittemore, Michigan. He preceded her in death in 1977. Mamie was employed at Riverside Manufacturing in Standish for over 14 years until they closed. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 3724 of Standish. Mamie was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and loved playing bingo.

She is survived by two sons William (Denise) Willett of Standish and Wayne (Mary) Willette of Las Vegas; daughter-in-law Mary Ann Willette of Standish; grandchildren Vance, Bryan, Ronnie, Greg, Margaret, Ruschelle, Matthew, Patty and Stacy; many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mamie was preceded by her parents and husband Melvin, daughter Cheryl and son Ronald, and sisters Daisy, Julia, Georgie and Wilma.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the R. O. Savage Funeral Chapel with Pastor Devin Chisholm officiating. She will lie in state from 10:00 AM until service time. Family will greet friends at the chapel on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial will follow the service at Woodmere Cemetery in Standish. Memorials are suggested to family wishes.
