Frank E. Oskvarek, 90, of Midland, died, Wednesday afternoon, May 2, 2012 at his home. He was born on February 23, 1922 in Lakewood, Ohio, son of the late Wendel and Mary (Admick) Oskvarek. Frank served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He married the former Augusta Svercek on October 11, 1947 in Midland. Frank was employed with The Dow Chemical Company, retiring in 1982 after 32 years of service. Along with working full-time at Dow, Frank had also farmed in the Midland area his whole life. He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and his hobbies include farming, maintaining his equipment, and welding. Frank’s greatest enjoyment was spending quality time with his beloved family. Surviving in addition to his wife Augusta of 64 years are his children and their spouses; Patricia and George Kosick of Midland, James and Barbara Oskvarek of Saginaw, Edward and Indira Oskvarek of Midland, Phyllis Oskvarek of California, Kathryn and James Hitchcock of Midland, Frank and Pamela Oskvarek of Florida, Douglas and Trina Oskvarek of Midland; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. One brother Edward Oskvarek preceded Frank. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2012 from the Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church. Father Kevin Maksym will officiate with burial in Old Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Frank’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the liturgy. Frank’s family will pray the Rosary at 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon with a Vigil for the deceased to begin at 7:00 p.m., all taking place at the funeral home.
