Grace Heidrich Ruthig, 79, of Atlanta, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in Fairgrove, Michigan, to the late Earl and Pearl Prime on January 17, 1933. After graduating from Caro High School in 1951, Grace attended business school and worked as a court reporter for Tuscola County Probate Court. She volunteered through church and community groups while raising five daughters. In 1969, Grace relocated with her family to Saginaw, where she was a long-time member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Grace enjoyed working in real estate, retail, and travel before returning to school to study interior design. During the 1990s she worked for Art Sample Furniture in Saginaw, Michigan. Upon retirement, she moved to Santee, South Carolina, where she enjoyed bridge and golf. She later relocated to Atlanta, Georgia.

Grace is survived by children Lynne (and Kim) Edwards, Susan Turnbull, Jan Heidrich-Rice (and Jim Rice), Tina Heidrich, and Lisa Heidrich; grandchildren Andrea Turnbull, Erin (and Nathan) McDade, Alex Rice, Quinn Rice, and Daniel (and Lauren) Rice; and great grandchildren Elsa and Addie McDade and Britton Carter. She was predeceased by Douglas Putnam, Harold Heidrich, and John Ruthig.

Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society. A private celebration of Grace's life is being planned for family and friends to take place later this summer in Michigan. Arrangements by SouthCare Cremation and Funeral Society in Marietta, GA
