Carol passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family age 76 years.  Daughter of the late Floyd E. “Pop” & Frances (Rand) Valead she was born July 16, 1935 in Bay City.  Carol served in the U.S. Air Force.  She worked at Meijers on Wilder Rd. for many years before retiring.  Carol volunteered at Do-All and the Bay County Historical Society- Musuem.  She enjoyed going to estate sales with her sisters, working in her flowers and refinishing antiques.  Carol love taking care of her two grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters; Michelle Reed, Maranie (Kevin) Holt, two grandchildren: Kara and Alex.   Also surviving are three sisters; Janet (Dick) VanAkker, Joan (Bill) Williams, Barb Valead and one brother, John (Joann) Rand.  She was predeceased by a sister; Geraldine Valead and three brothers, Chuck (Maxine) Ice, Don (Annabelle) Valead, Buck (Karen) Valead and many other half brothers and half sisters.

A gathering to celebrate Carol’s life will be celebrated Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 5 – 8 p.m.  at the Squires Funeral Home.   Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.
