Survived By: Surviving besides his wife Joan he leaves six children: Joe (Eileen) Spyhalski, Nancy Groulx & Roger Lopez, Laurie (Andy) Siminske, Bob (Kim) Spyhalski, Janice (Dick) Heintskill, Joyce Spyhalski & Tom Krzywonos, 23 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers; Ernie (Rose) Spyhalski, Jim (Nancy) Spyhalski, Richard (Gladys) Spyhalski, a sister in-law; Marie Spychalski and his special pet and best friend, Oliver.
Affiliations: . He was a member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church and the League of Catholic Women and Men. He worked at Delta College for many years before retiring.

Norm J. Spyhalski died peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the McLaren Bay Region age 78 years.  Son of the late John & Helen (Swiercz) Spyhalski he was born June 16, 1933 in Bay City.  He married the former Virginia “Jean” Rytlewski May 29, 1954.  She predeceased him June 19, 1973.  He then married the former Joan Janowiciz July 13, 1974 and she suvives him.  Norm served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church and the League of Catholic Women and Men. He worked at Delta College for many years before retiring.  Norm loved to listen to polka music and playing smear with his children and grandchildren.

 

Surviving besides his wife Joan he leaves six children: Joe (Eileen) Spyhalski, Nancy Groulx & Roger Lopez, Laurie (Andy) Siminske, Bob (Kim) Spyhalski, Janice (Dick) Heintskill, Joyce Spyhalski & Tom Krzywonos, 23 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are three brothers; Ernie (Rose) Spyhalski, Jim (Nancy) Spyhalski, Richard (Gladys) Spyhalski, a sister in-law; Marie Spychalski and his special pet and best friend, Oliver.  He was predeceased by a daughter; Rosemary Spyhalski and two brothers; Harry Spychalski and John “Jack” Spyhalski.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Hedwig Catholic Church followed by military honors by the Bay County Veteran’s Council with private burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Monday from 2 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday after 10:00 a.m.  There will be a parish vigil service for Norm on Monday at 7:30 p.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Bay County Humane Society or family wishes.
