Judy Ellen Stefanski, of Tawas City, died Friday May 11, 2012, age 54 years. Judy was born at Tawas Hospital to Rhoda (nee Nelson) and Vaino Lake, and grew up on a farm on Sand Lake Road in National City. There she learned to love and train horses. She loved all animals. She was a graduate of Tawas High School, class of 1975. She began her nursing career while still a high school student as a candy striper. She eventually became an RN, and had been an employee of St. Joseph Health System for 30 years and 10 months. She then worked for a while at the office of Dr. Devendra Sharma, before retiring to be a full time mother to her adopted son, Brandon. Brandon was adopted as a newborn, through an open adoption program, through Catholic Human Services in Alpena, and Judy focused her life on bringing up Brandon. Judy is survived by her son Brandon R. Stefanski, and her husband of 23 years, Ronald J. Stefanski. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rhoda and Vaino Lake, and her special aunt Sarah Lake. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday May 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City, Michigan. Her family will welcome friends for visitation on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place after the funeral in Pioneer Cemetery in Sand Lake.
