TODAY I LOST THE LOVE OF MY LIFE.  Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Robert A. Kenel passed away  Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 84 years of age. He was born to Emma Payne and Carl Kenel, November 2, 1927 in Kalkaska County, coming to Saginaw as a young child. He attended St. Rita's and St. Joseph Catholic Schools. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 64 years, the former Patricia Janicke. They were married March 2, 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Saginaw by Father Theodore LaMarre. They met in an ice cream shop.

He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer, the U.S.S. McCaffery during World War II. He was employed by S.B.S./Andrew Jergens for 43 years, retiring in 1992. He was a past member of the Thomas Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 486 and he served as a union steward for that local for twelve years. He was a member of the Teamsters Retirees Club Chapter 4. He was also a lifetime member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 1566. He was a member of the Smallwood Lake Association. Bob and his wife were both founding members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and he was a past member of the ushers club.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Patricia Conlay of Saginaw, and sons Robert G. and Karen Kenel of St. Charles, Rodney Kenel and Bryan Kwapil of New York. He was "Gramps" to his grandchildren, Melissa Conlay, Melanie Miller, and Jennifer Kenel, also two great grandchildren, Tristyn and Kinsley. His brother Herbert
Kenel, and sisters Edith Moore and Alice Wesson predeceased him. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and a dear cousin Walter Kenel of Kalkaska. Bob enjoyed the out-of-doors, hunting and fishing, winters spent in Florida, and time spent at their cottage. Bob was known as a "good guy" and a "hard worker".
