Loretta M. Matuszewski passed away Tuesday July 17, 2012 at the Caretel Inns of Tri-Cities age 92 years. Daughter of the late Stephen & Lottie (Shelagowski) Krzyminski she was born June 18, 1920 in Bay City. She married Max J. Matuszewski November 23, 1940. He predeceased her December 19, 2004. Known as “Red” Loretta worked at Bay City Central High School for over 40 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, National Geographic Society, Gleaners Society, life member of Bay Area Retired School Personnel & M.A.R.S.P. She also was a member of St. Stanislaus Rosary/Altar Society #34 and the League of Catholic Women and Men. Loretta volunteered at Creative for Caring for many years. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, quilting and watching the Detroit Tigers.
Surviving is a niece; Joan (Jerry) Wing, a nephew; Dick (Betty) Weiss, sister in-law; Dorothy Krzyminski, best friend, Carol Martek and the son she never had, Charlie Martek and his wife Helen. She also leaves many other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers; Evelyn Mexicotte, Caroline, Lucy, Stephen D. and James W. Krzyminski.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday July 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Joseph Church. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with entombment in St. Patrick Mausoleum. Friends may call at the church only on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass. Members of St. Stanislaus Rosary/Altar Society #34 will pray the rosary at 9:00 a.m. Friday at the Church. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Joseph Church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Maragari and the staff at Caretel Inns of Tri-Cities for the wonderful care that was given to Loretta for the past four and half years.
