Helen G. Kukla
Bay City, Michigan
Our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Brian’s House, age 88. Helen was bornMay 16, 1924 inBay City to the late Walter and Mary (Mindykowski) Wojtkowiak. She married Cyril V. Kukla in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church onJune 22, 1946; he predeceased her onNovember 9, 2003. She was a member of St. Hyacinth Church and enjoyed cooking, bingo, walking on the Riverwalk and playing cards. Helen had a wonderful personality; sweet, caring and genuine to name just a few of her traits. She loved to smile and make others smile as well. Helen was very devoted to her faith and kept God close to her heart at all times.
Surviving are her five children: Thomas (Sandra) Kukla, Cynthia (Dr. Charles) Kerr, Joanne (John) Szelogowski, Mary (Dennis) Cwiklinski and Kathleen (Allan) DeCatur, fourteen grandchildren: Kenneth Allen Kukla, Garrett (Amanda) and Brennen (Dr. Melissa) Kerr, Kurt (Nichole), Andrew (Melanie), Brandon and Matthew Szelogowski, Chad, Neil (Rachael) and Kent (Abby) Cwiklinski, Alyssa DeCatur, Natalie (Zachery) Dzurka, Adrienne (Thomas) Paulik and Jensen DeCatur, eleven great grandchildren, two sister in-laws, Theresa Gibelyou and Esther Zielinski and Helen’s beloved special friend, Wilma George. Helen was predeceased by her daughter, Clarice “Lisa” Kukla and two brothers, Leonard and Robert (Susan) Zielinski.
The Funeral Mass will be celebratedWednesday, August 1, 2012at10:00amat St. Hyacinth Church. Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will celebrate Mass and interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Tuesday from2:00to8:00pmand at church on Wednesday after9:00am. A Parish Vigil Service will be held Tuesday at7:00pmfrom the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Hyacinth Renovation Fund or Brian’s House.
The Kukla family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Brian’s House for their gentle loving touch and compassionate care ther gave Helen during her time at Brian's House.
