James B. Ivory, age 80 years, passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 at Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw.  He was born on June 16, 1932 in Lapeer County, the son of the late Earl and Icie (Smith) Ivory.  Bud married the former Shirley Baird on July 3, 1954, and she survives him.  He retired from Short Freight Lines in 1994 and before his retirement Bud worked part-time at the Vassar Police and Fire Departments.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Surviving family include his wife of 58 years, Shirley; his children, Dave and Beth; his brother, Zane (Crystal) Ivory; sister, Iris (Al) Boswell and several nieces and nephews.  Bud was preceded in death by his brothers, Herschel and Earl Jr. (J.R.) and sisters, Audrey Warren and Sue Ammons.

Cremation has taken place and no visitation or services are scheduled.  A private family graveside service will be at Stiles Cemetery in Lapeer.  Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar.
