Kelly, Robert James
Passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at his home, age 75 years.
Robert was born in Saginaw, Michigan October 11, 1936, the son of the late Fred V. and Mary Ella (Baker) Kelly. He was employed at Dow Corning for 38 years and was a member of the Midland Men of Music for over 34 years. He served in the United States Army from 1958 – 1962. Robert was an active member of the SHS class of 55 Reunion Committee. He was a former member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and the first parish council chairperson. He had been active in many community organizations, including the Saginaw YMCA Teen Club, All Girls Drill Team; he umpired in the city of Midland and refereed volleyball at the Midland Community Center. Robert loved camping at Alcona Park in Glennie, Michigan where he could spend his time playing cards and enjoying good times with his family.
Robert is survived by his brother, Donald (Barbara) Kelly; two sisters-in-law, Donna and Kay Kelly; many close nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by many close friends. In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Bradley and two brothers, Fred and Ronald Kelly.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2012 at W. L. Case & Company, 5700 Dixie Highway. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel Friday from 2:00 p. m until time of the service.
