Survived By: Surviving are her children; Bradley, Brian and George Atkinson, all of Reese; Denise Lafaro and her husband Dave of Saginaw; Kim Atkinson of Grand Rapids; and a special foster daughter, Shannon Mater and her husband Brandon of Colorado; fifteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three brothers and one sister and their spouses, Joseph and Sue Parrent of Arizona; Frederick and Judy Parent of Reese; Robert and Sue Parrent of Munger; and Rose Woizeschke of Reese. In addition to her husband and parents, Elaine was predeceased by her daughter, Carol Atkinson who died in February of 2000 and her brother-in-law, Bill Woizeschke who died in 2001.
Affiliations: Elaine was a homemaker most of her life and a Foster Parent for forty-five plus years, opening her heart and home to hundreds of children. She was a member of the St, Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese and enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards.

Elaine Atkinson, 80, of Reese, died Thursday afternoon, August 16, 2012 at her home. She was born April 3, 1932 in Reese, daughter of the late Oliver and Lucretia (LaFond) Parrent. On July 8, 1950 she was married to Fenton B. Atkinson in Reese. He predeceased her May 24, 2001. Elaine was a homemaker most of her life and a Foster Parent for forty-five plus years, opening her heart and home to hundreds of children. She was a member of the St, Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese and enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 12 Noon, Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. Father Prentice Tipton Jr. will officiate with cremation to follow. Inurnment will take place later in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery. Elaine’s family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Liturgy. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Elaine’s family. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
