Walter F. Blass, age 80 of Gladwin, Michigan, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 at his home. He was born the son of Arthur and Elsa (Funk) Blass on January 21, 1932 in Lee, Massachusetts. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He married Frances Kennedy on January 15, 1955 in Chatham, New York. He had lived in the Gladwin area since 2000, where he had moved from Waterford, Michigan. Walter was a member of UAW, Twenty Lakes Tractor Club, NRA, K of C, and the Eagles.
He is survived by his son, Robert Blass of Waterford, Michigan; his three daughters, Nancy (Richard) Winn of Greenville, North Carolina and Denise Rager of Marshallville, Ohio, Tracey Blass also of Waterford; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; one sister Rosie of LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Frances K. Blass, who passed away on January 24, 2011, a son, James Blass, a grandson, Nicholas Blass, and a son-in-law, Melvyn Rager.
In keeping with Walter’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home with Wayne Shiedler officiating with visitation from 1 to 3 PM.
