King, Jim of Saginaw passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010, at home with his family at his side following an illness. Age 68 years. Jim was born on October 13, 1941, in Saginaw to the late Ronald and Helen (Lange) King. He married Esther Cramer on June 20, 1960, in Saginaw. She survives him. Prior to his retirement, Jim was employed at General Motors Transmission Plant. Jim was a member of the UAW Local 467, the Great Lakes Educational Historical Society, was a Hunter-Safety Instructor, and had served on numerous boards of many organizations. He enjoyed buffalos and witling wood. Surviving besides his wife, Esther, are three children, Roberta (Brian) Oldenburg; Sue Garcia; and Jim King II, all of Saginaw; six grandchildren, Matthew (Michele) Oldenburg; Amanda (Chris) Polzin; Stephen and Frederick King-Garcia; and Jenna and Joshua King; two great-grandchildren, Ashlyn and Madilyn Oldenburg; one brother, Edward (Debra) King, Saginaw; many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by two brothers, one sister-in-law, and one son-in-law.
Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010, at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. Pastor Tom Senge will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and then on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
