Kalinowski, Gertrude C. (Lijewski)

Auburn, Michigan

Passed away Saturday afternoon February 6, 2010 at the auburn Care Center in Auburn after a lenghty illness at the age 86 years. Gertrude was born March 6, 1923 in Bay County, MI to the late Joseph and Amelia (Balwinski) Lijewski and has resided in this area all of her life. Gertrude was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Churchin Fisherville, the church Rosary and Altar Societies, the League of Catholic Men and women as well as being an avid bingo player. Gertrude also enjoyed cooking and baking. On May 18, 1946 Gertrude married Frank J. Kalinowski; he predeceased her on May 21, 1993. Gertrude is survived by a son, Timothy (Linda) Kalinowski of Hamoltin, IN, a daughter, Regina (Michael) Collins of Auburn, MI and three grandchildren. Two sisters, Marie Wisniewski and Josephine Davidson and two brothers, Florian Lijewski and William Lijewski have predeceased Gertrude.

Funeral and committal services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 11, 2010 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fisherville. Rev. Fr. Thomas E. Sutton will officiate with burial in St. Anthony Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, 312 W. Midland Rd., Auburn on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and then at church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A vigil service will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Anthony Catholic Church Building Fund, MidMichigan Hospice or the donor's favorite charity.
