Frankenmuth, MI
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Sunday March 7, 2010 at Covenant Medical Center, age 79 years. Fred was born on August 22, 1930 in Gate City, VA. He was married to Marie Affendikis on September 11, 1954; she survives him. Fred served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. Fred and Marie owned and operated the F. A. Pendleton Co. for over 40 years. He was a former Jaycee, member of the Frankenmuth Conservation Club, Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce, recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award, charter member of the U.C.T. Credit Union, and active in the Bridgeport Community Church for over 50 years. Fred was also a U of M fan, avid golfer with the Frankenmuth golf group and enjoyed playing cards.
Surviving in addition to his wife Marie are 1 daughter and 3 sons; Kevin Pendleton of Petosky, David (Lori) Pendleton of Frankenmuth, Sandy (Steve) Cilek of Rockford, MI, Kraig (Dr. Sara) Pendleton of Frankenmuth, daughter-in-law Jenny Pendleton of Grand Rapids, 12 grandchildren; Adam, Emily Pendleton, Shanna (Joseph) Jacobs, Nicole, John, Zachary Pendleton, Charlie, Sophia Cilek, Joshua, Luke, Caleb, Talitha Pendleton, 1 great grandchild, Landon Jacobs, 1 brother, J.C. (Margaret) Pendleton of Gate City, VA and many nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by 3 brothers; John, Paul, Temp Pendleton and 1 sister Nell Baker.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday March 10, 2010 at the Bridgeport Community Church, 3821 State St., Bridgeport, MI, Rev. Ron Sinclair will officiate. Fred’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Tuesday from 2-8 P.M. and on Wednesday at church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Bridgeport Community Church, Wickson Memorial Library or the American Parkinson Disease Association.
