Hilon James Brunett Sr., loving Husband, Dad and Papa, succumbed to complications from a stroke at the age of 76, on Saturday, August 24, 2013. He was surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Archibald and Mae (Seymore) Brunett was born on June 14, 1937 in Bay City. He is survived by his wife, Karen Winquest whom he married on October 3, 1959. Hilon retired from G.M. Power Train in Bay City in 1996 and enjoyed his time in his garden, golfing and most of all being surrounded by the “chaos” of his kids and grandkids. Hilon will also be remembered for giving support to family, friends and his favorite causes. He will be missed by his children, Andrea (Joe) Ritcey, Brigitte (Rob) Nestle, Hilon Brunett Jr., Lisa (Chad) Wieland and Darin (Michelle) Brunett. He was a loving papa to Brett, Sarah and Avari Ritcey, Denielle Wiess, Jason Sugar, Derek Sass, Jade Allison, Cody Brunett, Connor and Chase Brunett. Great grandchildren, Derek, Zander, Skyler, Oliver, Virginia and Brady. Also special nieces and nephews, Valerie and John Bledsoe, Kyleigh, Garrett and Carsen. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Ardis (Walt) Neering, Theresa (George) Charbonneau and by 2 brothers, Vaughn and Bernie Brunett, a brother-in-law Richard Winquest and special friends Diane and Rey Aguirre. He was predeceased by his sister Delores (Paul) LaPorte and a brother Raymond Brunett.
Special thanks to those at Bay Shores and Huron Woods nursing homes and the McLaren nursing staff (Pam, Roseanne, Dawn and Ruthie) who cared for our father. Family and friends will be welcomed on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Rivertown Funeral Chapel, 209 S. Huron Road, Kawkawlin, Michigan 48631 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A Memorial Service will take place Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Kawkawlin Community Church. Pastor David Dunn will be delivering the eulogy.
