Gerald M. Gwizdala
Gerald passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 after a brief illness at the University of Michigan Hospital, age 61. He was born September 20, 1952 in Bay City to the late Sylvester and Veronica (Sobczak) Gwizdala. Gerald was in US Army Reserves during Vietnam and a surgical technologist at Covenant-Harrison for 17 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Essexville, a reader and Eucharistic minister. Gerald was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2740 in Essexville and a 4th Degree Sir Knight of the John F. Kennedy Assembly #503. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the cabin at Higgins Lake.
Surviving are two children, Lori Lynn (Randy) Budd and Keith Andrew Gwizdala, their mother, Denise Smith, nine grandchildren: Alex, Garrett, and Emily Budd, Madison, Mason, Marek, Maxon, Maylee, and Mailin Gwizdala, one brother, Thomas (Marsha) Gwizdala, two nephews, Dennis and Michael Ford and a niece, Shelby Ford. Gerald was predeceased by a sister, Jane Ellen Ford and his step-mother, Clara Gwizdala.
Cremation has taken place. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 10:00am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Fr. Dale Orlik will celebrate Mass and private inurnment will be held at a later date. Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home, 1200 Garfield Ave., Bay City on Friday from 3:00 to 8:00pm and at church on Saturday after 9:00am. Members of the Knights of Columbus Council #2740 will have their Bible Presentation at 6:45pm, followed immediately by the John F. Kennedy Assembly #503 4th Degree Chalice Presentation.
