Beloved husband, father and grandfather entered his eternal home on April 1, 2014, age 87 years. The son of the late Raymond and Anna (Schwartz) Luplow, Roy was born February 27, 1927 in Carrollton, Michigan. He was baptized and confirmed at BethlehemLutheranChurch, Saginaw, Michigan and attended their parochial school. He graduated from ArthurHillTechnicalHigh School in 1943. He married Luella J. Kern, his loving wife of 65 years, on October 23, 1948. He is survived by his wife Luella, two sons, Dr. Dean (Debbie) of Big Rapids, Michigan and Craig (Cindy) of DeTour Village, Michigan. Roy also has two step-grandchildren; also surviving are Mary Kern (sister-in-law); Ken and Sandy Schlaefke (brother-in-law and sister-in-law). Roy was employed at Quality Door and Lumber and later at Mac Garage Door until his retirement. In 1976 Roy and Luella moved to Freeland and joined St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hemlock and later were one of three founding families and charter members of a new mission church, St. Mark Lutheran Church in ThomasTownship. In August 1982, Roy enrolled in Michigan Lutheran Ministries Institute and graduated in June 1984. Immediately after graduation, he accepted a call to St. Mark Lutheran Church as Lay Minister of Christian Growth and Church Planting.  He went back to MLMI and took a one year class in Church Planting and graduated in June 1985.  His position at St. Mark was in a part-time capacity as a Lay Minister. Roy also served as a clinical chaplain at Covenant Healthcare and conducted worship services at various nursing homes in the Saginaw area. He served on the Board of Evangelism and Church Growth for the LCMS District office in Ann Arbor for 6 years as well as other church boards and committees. He then enrolled in the Deacon Training Program under the direction of the Rev. Dr. Robert J. Schultz and became Deacon for St. Mark Lutheran Church and Preschool in 2007. Roy enjoyed woodworking in his workshop, building the custom furnishings of the Chancel and Altar at St. Mark Lutheran Church. He also took great pleasure in camping with his family and being with relatives for special events.

The family of Roy Luplow would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all of his caregivers at HealthSource and his numerous physicians as he fought his courageous battle with cancer.
