               Forest Leroy Garver, age 94, of Clare, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Prestige Place of Clare. Mr. Garver was born July 16, 1920 in Arthur Township, Clare County, the son of Walter Edward and Hazel Irene (Alwood) Garver. Mr. Garver proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Forest had resided in Clare most of his life. Mr. Garver farmed for many years and provided milk transportation to many dairy farmers for several years.

               Forest was a very active member of Clare Church of Nazarene for numerous years, where he enjoyed attending and visiting with his church family. Forest was a baseball fanatic, enjoying watching games on televisions and attending stadium games when he was able. He also enjoyed traveling, watching television game shows and spending time with his family. 

               Surviving Mr. Garver is his loving children: one daughter, Janet Hladik of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, three sons: Lyle Garver and wife Lynne of Winter Haven, Florida, Ray Garver and wife Jeanette of Clare and Dale Garver and Bobbi of Farwell, Michigan, three grandchildren: Julie Turner and husband Kirk, Lisa Ellenwood and husband Justin and Kyle Garver (Lindsay Gabriel), two great-grandchildren: Jordan Gilbert and Jason Ellenwood, four sisters: Donna Mosey of Grand Rapids, Virginia Haft of Milan, Michigan, Betty Abbott and husband Nial of Harrison and Marlyn Smith and husband David of Monroe, Michigan, plus many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and several cousins. Mr. Garver was preceded in death by his parents, his four children’s mother of forty two years, Lillian (Martz) Garver and his wife, Lavona “Bonnie” Langworthy whom he was married to for six years, he was also preceded in death by seven brothers: Charles Garver, Wayne Garver, Lester Garver, Walter Garver, Max Garver, Robert Garver, Rex Garver, two sisters: Doris Dalton and Fern Squires and one son in law, Joseph Hladik.

               Funeral services for Mr. Garver will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. from Clare Church of Nazarene, 10160 S Grant Ave, Clare, MI 48617, with Pastor Jim Young officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Clare Church of Nazarene, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Clare. Memorial gifts in memory of Mr. Garver may be considered to: Clare Church of Nazarene or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Michigan.
