ARLENE SARA MCKENNA

FEBRUARY 5, 1918 – OCTOBER 8, 2014

 

               Arlene Sara McKenna 96 of Harrison passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at The Brook of Gladwin, Michigan. Arlene was born February 5, 1918 in Amy, Michigan, the daughter of Carl Pulin and Laura (Farley) Anthony. Arlene was united in marriage to Mr. Manley Drake on June 26, 1945 in Pontiac, Michigan. In 1974, Arlene and Manley moved to Harrison in 1974, coming from Pontiac. On May 3, 1989, Mr. Drake preceded Arlene in death. On January 22, 1994, Arlene was united in marriage to Mr. Francis D. “Mac” McKenna in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. McKenna preceded Arlene in death on May 16, 2010.

               Mrs. McKenna was a member of the Clarkston Order of the Eastern Star #294. Arlene enjoyed playing cards, computer games, crocheting, bead crafting, ceramics, flower gardening, bird watching and deer hunting.

               Surviving Arlene are her loving children: one daughter, Helen Ann Kim and husband Father Richard Kim of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, one son, Thomas Drake and wife Barbara of Lakeport, Michigan, her special daughter, Maye Rood of Harrison, twelve grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, and two future great-great grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews and a very large extended family and several close friends.  Mrs. McKenna also was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Gladys Sibley and Phillis Brown and two brothers: Kenneth Paul and Carl Purlin Anthony Jr.

               A Celebration of Arlene’s life will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Father Richard Kim officiating. Visitation for Arlene will take place Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with an Order of the Eastern Star prayer service being held at 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Ottawa Park Cemetery, Waterford, Michigan.
