Paul Edward Baumgartner, age 73 of Clare, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at his home.  Paul joined the Coast Guard in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1964 as an accomplished E5 electronic technician.  His primary duty station was Honolulu, HI.  He worked in radio/TV broadcast engineering before finally realizing his childhood dream of becoming a railroad locomotive engineer.  In retirement, Paul graduated with honors from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science History/Education.  Paul was a member in good standings of the Illinois Railroad Museum and has several published life story articles which appear in the "Trains" national magazine publication (www.trainsmag.com).

     Paul is survived by his wife of 53 years, four children, eleven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.  Paul is remembered as a good caring father and loving devoted husband.  He was an active member of the Farwell Church of Christ.

     Visitation and services for Paul will be held at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Saturday, October 11, 2014.  Visitation will begin at 11 A.M. with the service led by Paul's Minister Andrew Apps to start at 1 P.M.  Burial will follow in the Cherry Grove Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Farwell Church of Christ.  On-line guestbook at www.stephenson-wyman.com
