Dorothy Germain Gutowski
Formerly of Carrollton, Michigan.
Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Edgewood Assisted Living. Age 97 years. Daughter of the late Michael and Martha (Boeheim) Morence, Dorothy was born October 2, 1917 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was married to Stanley Gutowski on May 24, 1941. He predeceased her September 21, 1996. Dorothy was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church, its Altar Rosary Society and past member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montrose. She enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching and playing Pinochle.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Michael and Barbara Gutowski, James and Debbie Gutowski, Charlene Jastrzembowski and her special friend, Don Rappley; nine grandchildren, Laurie and Tim Hamilton, James and Amanda Gutowski, Melinda and Steve Valdez, Jason and Tracey Gutowski, Shannon and Tony Buchalski, Ahren and Kim Gutowski, Joseph and Lily Jastrzembowski, Amy Spitler and her friend, Jon LeFevre, Dan Jastrzembowski and his friend, Michelle Wozniak; and 14 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Julie Gutowski and a son-in-law, Jack Jastrzembowski. Special thanks to the loving caregivers at Edgewood Assisted Living.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at St. John Paul II Parish, St. Josaphat site, 469 Shattuck Rd., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Richard Jozwiak will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. The St. John Paul Rosary Altar Society will pray the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
