Beloved son, grandson, step-brother and nephew passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Age 17 years. Son of Paula and Steven Gorney, Brenden was born August 14, 1998 in Traverse City, Michigan. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Gaylord. He was recently was inducted to the National Honor Society. Brenden enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family at the cabin and was an avid NASCAR Fan. Surviving to cherish his memory are his mother, Paula Gorney; his father, Steven and Jennifer Gorney; his grandparents, Ron and Marge Gorney, Peggy and the late Thomas Rapin; step-brother, Ryan Bischer; his step-sisters, Alyssa and Neil Hecht and their son Caleb, Aubree Bischer; aunts and uncles, Ron Gorney, Mike and Kirstin Gorney, Melissa and Jeff Lazzaro, Karrie and Brian Klopp; cousins, Cameron and Courtnie Swick, Brianna, Katie, Bernadette, Kristina, Bridget, Kolette, Brandon and Brooke Klopp and several family members and close friends. Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Tyler Bischoff will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan.
