Passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon October 16, 2016 at Munson Healthcare, Grayling, MI at the age of 59 years. Rick was born June 19, 1957 in Saginaw, MI to the late James F. and Dianne F. (Faulman) Forrest and had spent most of his life in this area, with the last 5 years in Grayling, MI. He graduated from Swan Valley High School in 1975. Rick served in the U. S. Navy. He was very active in his church. He was employed by General Motors until his retirement. He relocated to Mio, MI in 2012. He was an active member of Assembly Members. As a child Rick had many neighborhood friends. He was also a member of the YMCA and loved camping at Camp Timbers, and playing little league. He also enjoyed water and snow skiing and playing chess. Rick is survived by his brothers; James (Laurie) Forrest of Freeland, Joel Forrest of Grand Rapids, his sisters; Jeannie (David) Martin of Carrollton, Malinda (Steve) Szyperski of Merrill and Peggy (Leslie) Carder of Grandville, step mother; Jacklyn May of Saginaw. Special niece; Beth Rowe and several other nieces and nephews, special friends; Destry, Nick, his brother in the Assembly and his constant companion; his dog BeBe.

 

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday October 25, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, Freeland. Rev. Robert G. Schmidt will officiate. Per Rick’s wishes, cremation has already taken place. Friends may call at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, 310 E. Washington St., Freeland on Monday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Zion Lutheran Church, Freeland, Michigan General Jural Assembly or the donor’s favorite charity.
