Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Munson Healthcare Crawford Continuing Care Center. Age 86 years. The son of the late David and Nina (Armstrong) Riley, Don was born May 15, 1930 in Alma, Michigan. He was previously married to Yvonne Gagnon who predeceased him. Don then married Beverly Jean McCoy until their marriage concluded. He was employed as a truck driver at Great Lakes Express for 30 years until his retirement. Don was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Roscommon and the Knights of Columbus Council in Prudenville. He was also a member of the Eagles Club in Houghton Lake. Don enjoyed hunting, golfing, sports and traveling.
Surviving are two sons, David Riley, Saginaw; Timothy and Gretchen Riley, Roscommon; a daughter-in-law, Connie Riley, Saginaw; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Jamie), Chad (Tracy), Brian, Heather, Daniel, Sara (Chris), David A. and Thomas; 10 great-grandchildren; Don’s loving companion, Donna Smith; a sister, Joyce Quinn; several nieces and nephews; his canine companion, Tiger. Don was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Riley, a daughter-in-law, Colleen Riley, and by a brother, Bernard Riley.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 12:00 noon Friday, October 28, 2016 at St. Dominic Parish-Ss. Peter & Paul Site, 4735 W. Michigan Avenue in Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Andrew LaFramboise will officiate. Honoring Mr. Riley’s wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may call at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church where the family will be present on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Dominic Parish or St. James Catholic Church in Roscommon.
