Rev. Fr. Noel T. Rudy
Beloved brother, uncle and brother- Priest died peacefully, Saturday, November 5, 2016. Age 89 years. Son of the late John and Mildred (Meewes) Rudy, Noel was born October 23, 1927 in Newton, Iowa. He attended St. Andrew Grade School, St. Joseph Seminary in Grand Rapids, Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, St. John’s Provincial Seminary in Plymouth, Michigan, and was ordained a Priest on June 6, 1953 by the Most Rev. Bishop Stephen S. Woznicki. Fr. Rudy was pastor of St. Edward Catholic Church, Omer; Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Shields; Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bad Axe; St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Shepherd; St Andrew Catholic Church, Saginaw; St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Clare; St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Reese; St. Mark Catholic Church, AuGres and a Sacramental Minister at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Harrison. He was a member and Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus Council. His appointments included Diocesan Senate of Priests, Diocesan Personnel Committee, Clergy Benefit Society, Diocesan Pastoral Council and Coordinator of the Saginaw Diocese Golf Team.
Surviving to cherish his memory are two brothers, John and Elinor Rudy, Carrollton; Keith and Myra Rudy, Grandville; a sister-in-law, Virginia Rudy, Saginaw; 11 nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his extended family, Joanne Dana, his caregiver and her children, Timothy Dana, Sanford; Jacquelyn Schacher, Midland, Greg (Katie) Dana, Midland; Aaron (Jennifer) Dana, Allendale and nine grandchildren. Fr. Rudy was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Rudy and his niece, Theresa Groeneveld.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Helen Catholic Church site, 2445 N. Charles, Saginaw, Michigan. The Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, D.D. will preside and Rev. Frederick J. Kawka will be the homilist with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church where the family will be present on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. The Knights of Columbus will pray the Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday and a Vigil Liturgy, led by Rev. Ronald F. Wagner, will take place at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
