Ralph F. Del Valle
Carrollton Twp., Michigan
Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Monday, November 7, 2016. Age 86 years. The son of the late Manuel and Francisca (Gonzalez) Del Valle, Ralph was born on October 21, 1930. He married Elia “Elaine” Saenz on October 17, 1970. She survives him. Ralph proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Ralph belonged to the Legion of Mary for over 54 years, the American Legion for 60 years, as well as the Korean War Veterans Association. He was a current member of St. John Paul II Parish, serving as an usher, lector and Eucharistic minister. He was very active in the community with various organizations including being a former board member of the Saginaw Y.M.C.A., serving on the Carrollton Housing Commission and Boy Scouts of America. Ralph was employed in the Insurance and Employment Departments for General Motors for 25 years. He also had the opportunity to work in Zaragoza, Spain establishing the Employment Department for the new General Motors Plant. In his youth, Ralph and his brother Manuel owned and operated the Del Valle Grocery Store on the south side of Saginaw. He organized the Del Valle Family Reunion for the past 60 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, water and downhill snow skiing, country dancing with his wife, concerts at Ojibway Island and especially watching the Detroit Tigers.
Surviving besides his wife Elaine are his son, Manuel Del Valle and his daughter, Anna Marie DeVille (Edward Gron); three grandchildren, James Herrera, Jr., Madison Rose and Anthony Del Valle; many nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by his siblings, Manuel Del Valle, Esperanza Pardo, Cora Rueda, Frances Chavez, Sue De La Cruz, Margaret (Sally) Saldana and Jesus Del Valle.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Thomas Osmond and Ruth Gomez for their friendship, prayers and administering Communion to Ralph. The family would also like to thank Don from V.N.A., Dr. Altamash Amin and Dr. John Bartnik for their compassionate care.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016 at St. John Paul II Parish-St. Josaphat Catholic Church, 469 Shattuck Rd. Rev. Fr. James Bessert, Rev. Fr. Ronald Dombrowski and Rev. Fr. Joseph Schabel will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. The family will pray the rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the wishes of the family.
