     Dorothy Helen Looney Culpepper was born August 25, 1934 in Ragland Alabama.  She was the youngest of five children born to the late Chester and Rochell Looney.  Dorothy accepted christ at a young age and united with the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Ragland, Alabama.  She reaffirmed her fiath at Galilee Baptist Church in Lansing.

      Dorothy joined in holy matrimony to the late Toney Culpepper, Sr. in 1952.  To this union two children were born, Toney, Jr. and Gloira Jean.  Dorothy was a great host.  She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and watching soap operas.  Professionally, Dorothy enjoyed being a nursing assistant and private duty work.

     Dorothy was preceded in death by: her husband Toney Culpepper, Sr.; parents, Chester and Rocelle Looney; brother, Sylvester Williams; sister, Virginia Bell.

     Dorothy went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2010.  She leaves to cherish her memory; son, Toney (Emma) Culpepper, Jr. or Nashville, Tennessee; daughter, Gloria Jean Hughes of Lansing, Michigan; sisters, Geneva Malone and Marjorie Dixon of Cleveland, Ohio; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandhcildren; God-daughter, Jean Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

     Friends may visit Mrs. Dorothy Culpepper, Tuesday, June 29, 4- 7 pm, at the Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 30, 1:00 pm, at Galilee Baptist Church, 2511 Reo Road, Lansing, MI.  The family will reeive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
