Leon F. Proulx, 77, of Au Gres, Michigan passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 30, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region with family by his side.
Leon was born July 7, 1939 in Au Gres, Michigan to the late Frederick and Helen (Shotwell) Proulx. He married Nancy Jane Prater on October 17, 1959 at St. Mark Catholic Church in Au Gres, Michigan.
Leon served in the United States Navy from 1958 – 1962 until his honorable discharge. He was a programmer for many years for I.B.M. and retired in 1980 from the North Carolina area. Leon was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Au Gres, Michigan, the Men’s Club, Knights of Columbus #7717 where he was also a former Grand Knight. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, traveling, and being a part of the “Coffee Club”.
Leon is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; four sons, Ken (Joleen) Proulx of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Randy Proulx of Au Gres, Michigan, Ted Proulx of West Palm Beach, Florida; and Jon (Kim) Proulx of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren, Jeniffer Bishop, Sam Proulx, Lexi Proulx, and Aly Proulx; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Harrison; siblings, Lois, Daryl, Denice, and Rene'.
In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Proulx.
Funeral mass for Leon will take place Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. His family will greet friends at St. Mark Catholic Church, 415 South Court Street, Au Gres, Michigan from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass. Fr. Thomas Kowalczyk will officiate. Interment will follow in Linwood Cemetery in Au Gres, Michigan.
