 Passed away Sunday afternoon January 8, 2017 at Crittenton Hospital, Rochester Hills, MI after a brief illness at the age of 71 years. Connie was born December 5, 1945 in Saginaw, MI to the late Almon H. and Dorothy P. (Kelley) Mason. Connie has resided in this area for all of her life. Connie was a very social and outgoing person, who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Connie also worked at the Big Boy Restaurant in Saginaw for many years as well as baby sitting and house cleaning in the Freeland area.  In her spare time she enjoyed word search puzzles and arts and crafts. Connie was the one who started the food distribution program in the Freeland area to the poor and elderly residents. From this program, she got the nickname “Connie Cheese”. Her work was so impressive in 1993 Connie was named the “Saginawian of the Year” by the Saginaw News.   Connie was a loving Mother and Friend. Connie is survived by her son; Kevin (Vanessa) Mason of Oxford, MI and her three sisters; Sharon Mason of Saginaw, Cheryl (Harold) Brackett of Bridgeport, MI and Dawn (Tim) Dukarski of Omaha, NE.  A brother; Mike mason had predeceased Connie.

 A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 14, 2017 at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, Freeland. Rev. Robert G. Schmidt will officiate. Per Connie’s request, cremation has already taken place. Friends may call at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, 310 E. Washington St., Freeland on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Saginaw Rescue Mission or the donor’s favorite charity.
