Anderson, Herbert T. Jr.,
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Age 88 years. Son of the late Herbert and Kathryn (Walters) Anderson Sr., Herb was born March 4, 1928 in Leavenworth, Kansas. He served in the Army Air Corp. and the U.S. Air Force. He married his loving wife of 65 years Catharine “Kitty” Cahill, on April 7, 1951. She survives him. Herb was an industrial engineer at Saginaw Steering Gear for over 35 years. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He received his master’s degree at Kansas University, was an avid Jayhawk sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family at his cottage at Higgins Lake.
Surviving besides his wife Kitty are three daughters and three sons, Herb and Debbie Anderson III, Novi; Mark and Cindy Anderson, Saginaw; Jill and Terry Sullivan, Bartlett, Tennessee; Cathy and Bill Chaklos, Novi; Laura and Craig Tucker, Saginaw; Dean and Martha Anderson, Saginaw; 15 grandchildren, Aaron Sullivan, Matt (Julia) Sullivan, Spence Anderson, Bryan Anderson, Taylor (Eric) Whelton, Melissa (Michael) Karas, Lauren (Tyler) Farrant, Will (Jillian) Chaklos Jr., Kristine Chaklos, Kate (Patrick) Roney, Lindsay Tucker, Courtney Tucker, Katrina Anderson, Natalie Anderson, Nicholas Anderson; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Clayton (Jan) Anderson, Tallahassee, Florida.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:30 am. Friday, January 13, 2017 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Richard A. Bokinskie will officiate. Entombment will take place at St. Andrew Mausoleum with Military Services conducted by the American Legion Post #439. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church or Higgins Lake Foundation.
