Lovingfather, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 12, 2017 with his daughter by his side. Age 80 years. The son of the late Walter and Helen (Jamrog) Olszewski, Gerald was born June 14, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was married to the late Julia L. (Matzke) Olszewski on April 23, 1960.  Gerald retired from General Motors.  He was an avid motor car racing fan and remained loyal to his Michigan State Spartans as well as the Red Wings, Lions and Tigers. 

 

Surviving are two daughters and two sons, Walter and Kelly (Shorty) Olszewski, Alabama; Mary (Kay) and Tom McMall, Las Vegas, Nevada; Mark and Shannon Olszewski, Tennessee; Laura Olszewski, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister; one brother; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish – St. Casimir site, 2122 S. Jefferson Ave. Rev. Thomas Schmied, OFM, Cap. will officiate with burial in Birch Run Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty) where the family will be present on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Nathan Adelson Hospice or a charity of your choice.
