Wayne J. Engelhardt, 69, of Providence Forge, Virginia, and Port Austin, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in Virginia.

 

Wayne was born in Bay City, Michigan on April 14, 1947 to the late Victor and Dora (Knight) Engelhardt.  On May 20, 1972, he married Mary Mroczek at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church in Dwight Township, Michigan.

 

Wayne graduated from Au Gres Sims High School.  He then continued his education at Ferris State University and graduated with a Masters of Business Administration from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.  Wayne worked for GMAC for 40 years.   His job took him to many places in Michigan and to several states on the east coast.  His last assignment before retirement was in Richmond, Virginia.

 

He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Quinton, Virginia and St. Michael Church/ Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Port Austin, Michigan.   Wayne loved playing golf, playing Euchre, as well as the Detroit Lions.  But most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

 

Wayne is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Engelhardt of Providence Forge, Virginia and Port Austin, Michigan; his daughter, Tricia Seyed-Ali and her husband, Hadi, of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter, Avery Seyed-Ali; son, Matthew Engelhardt and his wife, Melanie of Milford, Massachusetts; his sisters, Ellen Wilson, and her husband, Larry of Beaverton, Michigan, Nancy Nowak and her husband, Charles of Au Gres, Michigan; his brother, Donn Engelhardt of Au Gres, Michigan; his uncle, Orin Engelhardt and his wife, Frances, of Kilmanagh, Michigan; along with several nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial mass for Wayne will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Port Austin (8661 Independence Ave.) with Fr. Craig Carolan officiating.  Burial will take place at the church cemetery.  A gathering will be at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.

 

Memorials may be offered to St. Michael Catholic Church/Annunciation of the Lord Parish.
