Kathryn Marie Sims, of Tawas City, passed away very peacefully under the loving care of her family and hospice on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Lakeview Manor Healthcare Center, age 85 years.  Kathryn was born on January 21, 1932 in Mio, Michigan to Blain and Dolly (Henderson) Stitt.  She will be forever remembered in so many beautiful ways, especially for her loving and caring Christian heart.  Kathryn was a long time member of the Tawas Seventh Day Adventist Church where she willingly gave countless hours to fulfill various positions within the church itself and participate in numerous activities and missions that the church would sponsor.  One of her favorite charitable projects was the Adventist Community Service Center, where she and many of her church family would collect food and other non-perishable goods and clothing for those who may be less fortunate.  Kathryn also gave much of her time to the Iosco County Medical Care Facility helping residents with games and activities.  She had a passion for the outdoors and absolutely loved watching and feeding birds.  She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, going for walks, and even physical hard work such as cutting, hauling, splitting and stacking wood.  She was a phenomenal baker and cook and enjoyed sharing some of her delicious kitchen creations with her friends and family.  Kathryn's family and friends will always remember her warm and savory fresh baked cinnamon rolls!  For 27 years she made her living cooking and baking for the Tawas Area School system, until she decided to step away from the work force and enjoy her retirement years.  Kathryn had a very close group of ladies that she enjoyed spending time with; picnics, shopping and trips.  She will certainly be missed by so many family and dear friends who had the chance to know and love her.  During her time of care at Lakeview Manor Healthcare, she was loved and cared for by many nurses, staff, and friends. This exceptional care will never be forgotten. Kathryn is survived by her 2 daughters, Debbie (Timothy) Butzin of East Tawas, and Kimmie Sims of Tawas City; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; 2 brothers, Donald Stitt of East Tawas, and Earl (Virginia) Stitt of Fairview; many nieces, nephews, and special friends.  She is preceded in death by her husband, David S. Sims Jr. in January 2016; 3 sisters; and 1 grandson.  A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, February 13, 2017 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Josiah Hill officiating at the Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City.  Her family will welcome friends at the funeral home Monday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service for visitation.  Interment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery in East Tawas.  Those wishing to express their condolences are encouraged to consider the Adventist Community Service Center in her name; c/o Tawas Seventh Day Adventist Church, 327 Whittemore Street, Tawas City, MI.  48763.  An online guest registry is available at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com
