William C. Gay, 81, of Au Gres, Michigan passed away unexpectedly February 15, 2017 at his home.

William was born October 15, 1935 in West Branch, Michigan to the late Charles and Goldie (Curtis) Gay.  He married the former Lorraine Thaut and together they raised six children, Carol, Brenda, Arlene, William Jr., Douglas and Sherry.

William was a machinist for many years at Bay City Shovel.  He was a hard worker who then became a foreman and retired not once, but twice.  He instilled that work ethic in his family.  William was a member at Good News Ministries Lutheran Church where you could find him volunteering in many aspects.  In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

William is survived by his children, Carol (Larry) Robinson, Brenda (Darrin) Gay-Hayes, Arlene (Marcie Markwart) Denny, William Gay Jr., Douglas (Dianna) Gay, Sherry (Jeff) Heath; grandchildren, Sonia (Pete) Skacal, Andrea Robinson, Nicky (Will) Robinson, Joshua Hayes, Eric Denny, Samantha (Jason) Chase, Arron (Holly) Denny, Chantel Gay, Kala (Mark) Avram, Aubree (Jeff) Anscomb; great-grandchildren, Keagan, Kayden & Kiley Skacal, Chance, Devin & Journee Robinson, Logan & Marissa Denny, Keira Esslin, Brook & Elizabeth Chase, Garrett, Brennan & Hannah Avram, Arron Jr. & Aurora Denny.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lorraine, February 11, 2009.

Visitation for William will take place 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Good News Ministries Lutheran Church, 3107 North M-65, Turner, Michigan 48765.  Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church with Mike Sadler officiating.  Interment will follow in Sims-Whitney Township Cemetery in Au Gres, Michigan.  Online condolences may be offered at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com
