Barbara Mae Eichinger was born in Muskegon, MI on January 4, 1927 to the late John W. and Anna (Rohwedder) Carlson.  She passed away on February 15, 2017 in Statesville, NC.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard A. Eichinger on September 23, 2010.  Barbara was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and great grandmother.  Her times spent with family were the happiest times of her life.  She was a talented artist and enjoyed many crafts, including making mohair teddy bears and woven baskets.  She had a real joy and talent working with flowers.  Her amazing sense of humor always brightened our days.

Barbara was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church ,its choir, its Ladies Aid, Ladies Bible Class, Stephens Ministry and Evangelism Team. Prior to retirement she was a floral designer at Boehringer Greenhouse in Bay City.

She is survived by 3 children:  Carol A. (John) Wallace, Diane L. (Jeffrey) Beard and James A. (Mary Beth) Eichinger, 6 grandchildren: Rachel (Michael Stewart) Beard, Andrea and Taylor Beard, Justin, Meghan and Kaitlyn Eichinger  and a great grandson Carter Bowling.  A son, Michael Eichinger, preceded her in death in 1952.

Funeral and committal service will be Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  The Rev. Leroy Westphal will officiate.  Private burial will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or School, or the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC.  The family would like to thank the staff of Carillon Assisted Living and the Gordon Hospice House for their compassionate care given to Barbara. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home.  She will lie in state at the Church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time.
