Jerome W. Illig, 92, of Gladwin, Michigan passed away at the Gladwin Pines Nursing Home in Gladwin on Sunday, March 26, 2017. He was born in West Branch, Michigan on September 19, 1924 the son of William & Rosetta (Walters) Illig. On January 18, 1947 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Florence Craft in West Branch. He was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict. After farming in West Branch from 1947 to 1958 Jerome and Florence moved to Gladwin County. He was a hard working man and very much loved his career as a farmer, after retiring in 1991, Jerome and Florence enjoyed fishing and traveling. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Gladwin. His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife of 70 years, Florence Illig of Gladwin; sons: Bill (friend Judy) Illig of Beaverton; Mike Illig of Gladwin; Pat (Gail) Illig also of Gladwin. He was blessed with 5 beautiful grandchildren: Tim (Kim) Illig; Julie Kotsco; Dayna (Ken) Bittner; April (Travis) Zoss and Katie (Nathan) Carpenter; 9 precious great grandchildren; siblings: JoAnn, Geraldine, Gerald, Rose Marie; Mary Ann and several nieces & Nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter in-law: Debbie; siblings: Alice, Delores, Walter and Kenny. Funeral Services will be conducted by Fr. Marcel Portelli on Thursday, March 30, 2017, 11:00 A.M. with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gladwin, Michigan. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 2-8:00 P.M., with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin, Michigan.
