Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend and “uncle” to everyone, young or old who knew him passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 due to complications from a motorcycle accident several years ago, age 36. The son of Joseph P. and Kathleen (Whalen) Winchell he was born April 16, 1980 in Bay City. Jason graduated from John Glenn High School and married Mandee K. Gielda in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church on September 13, 2003 and she survives him. He retired from Michigan Sugar in 2010 after several years of service. Jason enjoyed golf, motorcycles, video and board games with his daughters, and doing his firework display for his family and friends. He was also a devoted Detroit Tiger fan and mentor to children of all ages.
Surviving is his wife Mandee, two daughters, Indee and Ajae, his mother Kathlene Winchell, two brother, Trevor and Cory Winchell, grandmother Barbara Winchell, best friend Steve Kurchak, father in-law, John (Sheryl) Gielda, mother in-law, Sheree (John) Mix, brother in-law and sister in-law: Johnathan (Stacy) Gielda and Alyssa (Tomme) Miracle, seven nieces and nephews: Zac, Breann, Libby, Laikin, Eastin, Maelee and Lila, and his pets: Blondee, Jak and Buzz. Jason was predeceased by his father Joseph P. Winchell and grandparents: William Winchell and Jim and Ruth Whalen.
The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Squires Funeral Home. Pastor Joe Atchinson will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes” for a fund being established towards Indee and Ajae’s college.
