Also two sisters-in-law; Caroline (James) Warren and Shirley Dankert.

Passed away unexpectedly Wednesday April 12, 2017 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence, Saginaw, MI after a very brief illness at the age of 86 years. Dorothy was born January 24, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Leo J. and Lucie E. (Bowerman) Render. Dorothy has resided in this area most of her life. Dorothy had worked at Smith Hardware, Plesko Hardware and Pat’s Food Center. Dorothy enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family. On June 25, 1949 Dorothy married Demmond M. Dankert Sr., he predeceased her on June 21, 1982. Then on June 9, 1984 Dorothy married Walter E. McLean, he survives her. Besides her husband Walter, Dorothy is survived by her daughter; Ruth (William) Schlader and son; Robert (Michelle) Dankert, step-children; Carol (David) Benway, Joan (William) Stroik, Wayne (Kimberly) McLean, Madiline (Mark) Taylor, Diane (Patrick) Terrian, seventeen grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Also two sisters-in-law; Caroline (James) Warren and Shirley Dankert. A son Demmond Dankert Jr. had predeceased Dorothy.  

 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday April 18, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, Freeland, MI. Rev. Robert G. Schmidt will officiate. Burial will follow at the Richland Lutheran Cemetery, Hemlock, MI. Friends may call at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, 310 E. Washington St., Freeland, MI on Monday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Zion Lutheran Church, Freeland or the donor’s favorite charity.
