John was preceded in death by his son, Daniel J. Kostrzewa and two brothers, Floyd and Joseph Kostrzewa.

Son of the late John and Agnes (Nowaczyk) Kostrzewa, John was born May 5, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1941. He served in the U.S Army during WWII and was a life member of V.F.W. Post #1859. John married Genevieve Wandzel, his loving wife of 70 years, on July 20, 1946. She survives him. John was employed at Baker Perkins as a tool and die inspector retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. John Paul II Parish, St. Josaphat Catholic Church site, and was an usher. John loved playing cards, dancing, fixing everything, playing his harmonica and was a big Detroit Tiger Fan.

 Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his home. Age 95 years. Son of the late John and Agnes (Nowaczyk) Kostrzewa, John was born May 5, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1941. He served in the U.S Army during WWII and was a life member of V.F.W. Post #1859. John married Genevieve Wandzel, his loving wife of 70 years, on July 20, 1946. She survives him.  Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017 at St. John Paul II Parish, St. Josaphat Catholic Church site, 469 Shattuck Rd., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. James Bessert will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Andrew Cemetery with Military Services conducted by V.F.W. Post #1859. Friends may visit at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service, led by Rev. Fr. Richard Jozwiak, will take place 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John Paul II Parish or V.F.W. Post #1859.
