Passed away Monday afternoon May 15, 2017 at Covenant Health Care-Cooper in Saginaw, MI after a brief illness at the age 64 years. John was born July 22, 1952 in Saginaw, MI to the late Albert J. and Grace M. (Manning) Spindler and has spent most of his life in the Freeland area. John loved music, especially playing the piano and creating his own music. John loved horses and watching them run. John was a very skilled pool player and he loved to play whenever he could. John loved to drive his ford Mustang, and had several of them over the years. John was a creative individual, especially when it came to his music. John is survived by his brother; David A. Spindler of Shepherd, MI., two nephews; Kirk (Jill) Spindler of Shepherd and Erik (Anna) Spindler of Mt. Pleasant. An uncle; Frank Spindler and his friend Sharon Willson of Freeland and an aunt; Matilda Belanger of Clio. John was predeceased by a sister-in-law; Kathlyn Spindler and a niece; Kara Spindler.


A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday May 22, 2017 at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, Freeland. Rev. Fr. Robert Deland will officiate. Per John’s wishes cremation has already taken place. Friends may call at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, 310 E. Washington St., Freeland on Monday from 12:00 Noon until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Agnes Catholic Church, Freeland or the donor’s favorite charity.
