Survived By: her husband Don, are her five children and their spouses; Brian Westoby of Saginaw; Paula and Edward Braley of Saginaw; Diane and Don Van Oeveren of Ada;, Derek Westoby of Bay City; and Sandra Oberhofer of Lakeland, FL; nine grandchildren; Angel (Mike) Marino, Kirsten Andrews, Steven (Haven) Andrews, Sarah Westoby, Rebekah Westoby, Haley Oberhofer, Kaitlyn Van Oeveren, Kylie Andrews, Connor Oberhofer and two great grandchildren, Nicholas Marino, Colton Andrews and "one on the way". Also surviving is her brother, Ken Tribble of Saginaw and her daughter-in-law, Carol Westoby of Saginaw

Barbara Jane Westoby, 82, of Reese, died peacefully early Thursday morning, June 22, 2017 at her residence, surrounded by her husband and family. She was born December 2, 1934 in Saginaw, daughter of the late Paul and Henrietta (Diechman) Tribble and was a 1952 graduate of St. Andrew’s High School in Saginaw. On May 14, 1955 she was united in marriage to Donald Westoby in the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Saginaw. He survives her. Mrs. Westoby was employed for many years by Saginaw Transit Authority where she was Director of Business Operations. A devout Christian, and the Love of the Lord, led her to many years of serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. She served as Secretary for the church credit union for eleven years before it became part of the Frankenmuth Credit Union. Barbara enjoyed wintering with her husband in Lakeland, Florida for many years, along with traveling, and ballroom dancing with Don. Her favorite enjoyment above all was being with her grandchildren. Barbara had the best sense of humor and enjoyed watching her two favorite TV programs, The Golden Girls and Tool Time.

 

 

Surviving besides her husband Don, are her five children and their spouses; Brian Westoby of Saginaw; Paula and Edward Braley of Saginaw; Diane and Don Van Oeveren of Ada;, Derek Westoby of Bay City; and Sandra Oberhofer of Lakeland, FL; nine grandchildren; Angel (Mike) Marino, Kirsten Andrews, Steven (Haven) Andrews, Sarah Westoby, Rebekah Westoby, Haley Oberhofer, Kaitlyn Van Oeveren, Kylie Andrews, Connor Oberhofer and two great grandchildren, Nicholas Marino, Colton Andrews and “one on the way”. Also surviving is her brother, Ken Tribble of Saginaw and her daughter-in-law, Carol Westoby of Saginaw;   In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Barbara Tribble. Barbara’s family would like to extend a special thank-you to her primary caregiver, Erin Herbert and also to Visiting Angels.

 

 

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 from the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. Father James Carlson will officiate with cremation to follow. Her cremains will be interred in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Barbara’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
