Survived By: his wife Michelle of Sanford and daughter Lori (Ronald) Buffington of Montrose; grandchildren SPC Jared (Kara) Buffington and PVT Emily Buffington, all of Ft. Hood, TX, and Morgan Buffington of Montrose. Also surviving is his brother Randall (Joy) Brown of Gillette, WY and sisters: Beverley (Richard) Stone of Gladwin, Connie (Fred) Baumann also of Gladwin, Patty (Dean) Cobb of Beaverton and Cindy (Steve) McDaniel of Gladwin; and many nieces and nephews.

Achievements: Upon graduation he served his country in the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam War.
 

Leslie Lewis Brown, 69 of Sanford, died Friday morning June 30, 2017 at the MidMichigan Medical Center.  He was born July 24, 1947 in Gladwin son of the late Carl and Margaret Ann (Boxey) Brown.  Les attended and graduated in 1965 from Beaverton High School where he enjoyed playing baseball.  Upon graduation he served his country in the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam War.  In February 1972, he married the former Michelle Ann Verbrugge at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Birch Run.  Les had been employed at Saginaw Steering Gear/Delphi until his retirement in 2006 and had been an avid hunter and fisherman; sharing his love of the outdoors with his family and friends.  He was always willing to help, donating his time and talents to anyone in need.  Les loved a good story, both listening to and telling; and was known as a jokester among family and friends.

 

He is survived by his wife Michelle of Sanford and daughter Lori (Ronald) Buffington of Montrose; grandchildren SPC Jared (Kara) Buffington and PVT Emily Buffington, all of Ft. Hood, TX, and Morgan Buffington of Montrose.  Also surviving is his brother Randall (Joy) Brown of Gillette, WY and sisters: Beverley (Richard) Stone of Gladwin, Connie (Fred) Baumann also of Gladwin, Patty (Dean) Cobb of Beaverton and Cindy (Steve) McDaniel of Gladwin; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Liturgy will take place 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 from Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Sanford.  Fr. Daniel J. Fox OFM Cap will act as celebrant with rite of committal to follow in St. Agnes Cemetery with full military honors presented by the Midland Area Veterans and the U.S. Department of the Army.  Les’ family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the Liturgy.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Midland Area Veterans.
