Henry A. Brown, age 95, of Mayville, MI, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Fisher Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center, Mayville, MI.

 

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday July 12, 2017 at 11 AM at the Mayville United Methodist Church with Pastor Carole Brown officiating. The family will receive visitors from 10 AM until time of service.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion, Mayville Sunflower Festival, or the Mayville United Methodist Church.

 

Internment will be at the Watertown Township Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post #181 and the Mayville/Vassar VFW Post #10884.

 

Henry was born at home in Mayville, MI on May 29, 1922 to Charles and Gertrude (Brown) Brown, a farming family. He was their fifth child. Henry graduated from Mayville High School in 1940 where he found his wife Anne L. Lucik and they married on June 22, 1942 in Fostoria, MI. He worked for AC Spark Plug in Flint, MI from 1941-1943. In 1943 Henry was drafted into the Army Air Force and was sent to the Pacific after Basic Training in St. Louis, Missouri. His first stop in WWII was New Cayenna where he was a mechanic for the ground crew for the B-24's. He then traveled to Okinawa and ended up in the Philippines. Henry returned home in 1946 and went to work at the Vassar Foundry. In 1947 Henry decided to go to school in Detroit at Green's Barber College. It took him six months to complete his training. He started his business after buying the Barber Shop from Ralph Freeland. Henry and Anne lived in Mayville and were blessed with twin boys, Don and Ron Brown on June 29, 1950 and a daughter Carol A.(Brown) Cross on January 5, 1961. He was a Barber in Mayville for 58 years.

 

Henry is survived by his daughter, Carol A. Cross; four Grandchildren; and special companion, Mike Baber.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne; both sons, Ron and Don; parents; brothers, Ralph, Roy and Everette; and sister, Gladys.
