Gerald G. "Jerry" Kalinowski

Our beloved father (Gramps) went to his heavenly home Friday morning July 7, 2017 age 85. He was born the son of the late Ira and Emily (Luczak) Kalinowski July 16, 1931 in Bay City and had resided in this area all his life. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, worked for the former Ford’s Clothing Store in downtown Bay City, worked and retired from Dow Corning Corporation after 35 plus years of service, was a member of Auburn K of C Council 3590 for 37 years where he was responsible for renting, cleaning, and maintaining the hall. He was a member of St. Gabriel Parish (Auburn). He loved  attending the dirt track races on Friday & Saturday nights with his son Denny, his weekends in Lake City, loved visiting with people. He enjoyed his collection of polka and country music,was known as “Mr. Fix It” and always had candy in his pocket to give others. He thought the world of his granddaughters Jill & Lisa and was so happy to be a part of their lives. He was also blessed to be able to enjoy his two great-grandchildren, Noah & Holly who he adored. On October 11, 1952 he married his high school sweetheart Della H. Rytlewski, sadly she predeceased him on January 4, 2005. He will forever be remembered by his son and daughter in-law; Dennis (Cathy) Kalinowski, his beloved grandchildren; Jill (Kurt) Solmonson, Lisa Kalinowski, and great-grandchildren Noah and Holly, 1 brother; Robert Kalinowski, 2 sisters in-law; Norma and Carolyn Rytlewski and many nieces and nephews. He is also welcomed home by a sister; Ruth Ann, sister in-law; Bernadette and 2 brothers in-law; Jim and Erwin Rytlewski


The funeral liturgy will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday July 13, 2017 at St.Gabriel Parish (West Campus – 11 Mile and Midland Roads). Rev. Fr. Thomas E. Sutton will officiate with cremation to follow. Following the mass members of the Bay Area Veterans Council will render military committal services. Jerry’s family will receive friends at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m.  Jerry will lie in state at the CHURCH on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass. There will be a parish vigil service 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home followed by a bible presentation by members of K of C Council 3590. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution in memory of Jerry for a memorial to be established at a later date.
